Thought of the Day
The Core Value for the month of April is the 4 C’s…..Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication and Collaboration. Critical Thinking is defined as the objective analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to form a judgment: Creativity is defined as the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work. Communication is defined as the imparting or exchanging of information or news. Collaboration is defined as the action of working with someone to produce or create something.
From Guidance & The Main Office:
There is a list of those students who have met the requirements for the Academic Hall of Fame Plaque on the bulletin board outside of Office A. If your name is not on the list and you feel that you have met the necessary requirements, please see your guidance counselor no later than Friday, April 28th. After that date, the plaque will be finalized and no changes will be made.
Camp Ray Bird in South Bend is looking to hire graduating seniors to work as counselors this summer. Camp Ray Bird is a Christian based summer camp that ministers to kids age 8-15. The dates are June 4 through August 5. If you would like more details, please see Mrs. Johnson in the guidance office.
Lift & Move USA is hosting a career fair in Bridgeview, IL. for students interested in careers in the fields of crane operators, riggers, mechanics, welders, truck drivers, lift planners and IT specialists. This fair is on May 3 from 8:00 a.m to 1:40 p.m. If you are under the age of 18, you must attend with a chaperone. The registration deadline is April 30. For more details see Mrs. Johnson in the guidance office.
From Clubs & Groups:
Attention Juniors and Seniors: Prom Court Nominations will take place today and tomorrow! You will nominate your Prom Court candidates online. Log into Schoology and find the Prom Court Nominations post from Ms. Liesch. You will need your PTS Google Login information in order to access the ballot, and you may only vote once. All ballots MUST be submitted by 2:35 on Friday! Final voting for Prom King, Queen, Prince, and Princess will take place next Thursday during Tribe Time. See Ms. Wilkins-Senart in guidance or Mrs. Deavers-Lowie in room 153 with any questions.
Don't miss the final weekend of the Spring Musical 'The Addams Family'. This Friday and Saturday only in the East Auditorium at 7:30 pm. Tickets are only $8. Come out and support your school’s Theatre Dept. and see the 'Addams Family!' Friday and Saturday only!
Prom picture order forms are available in the East main office and Bookstore. Students who are attending prom and want to order professional pictures should bring the completed form and money with them to prom. See Mrs. Deavers-Lowie in room 153 or Mrs. Wilkins-Senart in the guidance office with any questions.
From The Athletic Department:
- Varsity Baseball: The Portage Indians lose to Laporte 6-1. They were led by Scotty Hanson’s 2 hits and 1 run scored. Kaleb Foster, David Miller, and Jimmy Craven each added a single. Josh Oliver pitched 5 innings with 2 Ks, and Jeff Stanley threw 2 innings with 2 Ks.
- JV Baseball: The JV baseball team had another rough day in the field with 8 errors. On the Offensive side, Danny Bruno had 3 hits. Chris Corralez pitched well but just had no help behind him. We take the field tomorrow against Chesterton
- Freshmen Baseball: Sean Claussen didn’t allow a single hit as Portage Indians defeated Hobart Brickies 17 – 0 on Wednesday. He tossed five innings, surrendering zero runs, zero hits, striking out five, and walking one. Portage Indians had 11 hits in the game. Xavier Alvarez, Teddy Uzelac, Sean Claussen, and Broghan Lane each collected multiple hits for the Indians. Portage didn’t commit a single error in the field.
- Softball: Portage lost to Lake Central 8-0. Lexi Zych went 2 for 3 and Layla Melendez had a double. The Indians will play Hanover Friday.
