To your right is a list of Scholarship Search Engines. The scholarships below are organized by deadline date. Eligibility: Qualifying for the Balanced Man Scholarship is simple, as all incoming students need to do is submit an online application and enroll full-time at any of these institutions for the fall 2026 term. These applications are not labor-intensive for students, typically taking less than 30 minutes to complete.

St. Mary Medical Center Auxiliary 2026-2027 Scholarship Program
Award:
The goal of this competitive program is to aid high school seniors, employees, legally dependent children of qualifying employees, and/or volunteers who are preparing to be or currently enrolled as full-time students in university education programs. This program allows students the opportunity to receive financial assistance to reach their goals.
Eligibility:
Eligible applicants include high school seniors from the following St. Mary Medical Center Service areas: Hobart High School, River Forest High School, Thomas A. Edison High School, Lake Station; Valparaiso High School, Andrean High School, Boone Grove High School, Wheeler High School, Portage High School, Merrillville High School & West Side Leadership Academy.
St. Mary Medical Center & Powers Health Rehabilitation Center employees, volunteers, dependents, or direct descendants from an active adult volunteer in good standing, recipients of this scholarship from one year prior to those listed. Employees must be employed at least one full year working at a .6 FTE or above for themselves or their dependents to qualify. University enrollment should reflect a two- or - more-year accredited college program.
Applicants must be seeking a post-secondary degree in any medical field related to the biological edifice of a person. These applicants must have a cumulative and current Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher.
Applicants must be United States citizens or legal permanent residents. Applicants advancing to the interview round of the process will be asked to provide page one of their Federal Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA.
Applicants may only apply to one system hospital for a scholarship.

Terry Hufford Memorial Fund for Education Scholarship
Award:
The winner(s) will receive a minimum of a $500 scholarship to be used for tuition to an accredited college or university.
Eligibility:
● Will successfully complete requirements for graduation from Portage High School ● Be accepted into an accredited two-year college, four-year college or a university ● Plan to pursue a course of study leading towards a career in the service industry (education, law enforcement, social work, etc…) ● Minimum GPA of 3.0 ● Participation in athletics, music, clubs or organizations during high school career

The Mitchell Sterling Memorial Scholarship
The Mitchell Sterling Foundation is proud to award annual scholarships to select Indiana high school seniors who embody Mitchell’s spirit of leadership, kindness, and responsibility behind the wheel. These scholarships recognize students who are committed to promoting safe driving habits and preventing distracted driving among their peers.
This is more than a financial award — it's an invitation to carry Mitchell’s legacy forward as a Safe Driving Ambassador in your school and community.

Three recipients will receive a $3000 scholarship in May 2026. Winners will be announced on the website on May 1, 2026.

Tri-State Desk and Derrick Club Technical or Trade School Scholarship
This opportunity is offered to a worthy high school graduate or GED recipient that plans to attend a trade school in 2026. The goal of this scholarship program is to provide the means for an individual to obtain a trade that is likely to be used in the oil, gas and energy industries.
Award: up to $3,000 for one year. Recipient must reapply for subsequent years.
Eligibility:
Minimum Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen; Must have a career goal in the natural gas and oil industry; No age restrictions as long as applicant has a high school diploma, GED, or high school transcript showing completion through homeschooling; Must be an Indiana, Illinois or Kentucky resident OR a student attending, or planning to attend an accredited Indiana, Illinois or Kentucky technical or trade school. If awarded, must maintain an equivalent of a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Award: The scholarship awards $1000.00 annually for 4 years provided that the student demonstrates continued progress toward a public works field degree. A paid annual membership to the American Public Works Association is included in the award.

Award:

Award: $2,500 annual, $10,000 maximum per applicant

-Recipients must be Indiana residents of Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton, Jasper or Starke Counties.
-Recipients must be pursuing a career in construction or related field. (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, etc. )

-Evaluation of applications participation in extra curricular activities in school and/or community

-Full or part time students are eligible. Part time students will be funded on a proportional basis.

Operation Round Up Scholarship from Kankakee Valley REMC
Awards:
Trades Scholarship- $1,500 awarded to 2 students pursuing a trade
Undergraduate Scholarship- 2, $2,000 scholarships awarded to those pursuing an undergraduate degree at a college or university.
Eligibility:
The applicant must be a high school senior graduating in 2026 who plans to attend an accredited post-secondary school or join a trades program in the fall of 2026, and who has a parent or legal guardian that is a member-consumer of Kankakee Valley REMC and participating in Operation Round Up as of February 2, 2026 (one month prior to the application deadline) is eligible to apply. The scholarship applies only to Kankakee Valley REMC member/consumer households, and not those of other area REMC’s.

Indiana Association of School Principals IASP Student Scholarship Program (IASP)
Award:
$1,000 scholarships to four college or university students who have completed their freshman year and are pursuing a career in teaching.
Eligibility:
Eligible applicants must meet the criteria, including having a parent who is an active IASP member serving in a building leadership role. In alignment with the IASP Board of Directors' commitment to diversity and inclusion, at least one scholarship will be designated for a student of color. Scholarships may be renewed for a second year upon successful completion of the current academic year.

$2,000 per semester toward tuition for a maximum of eight (8) consecutive full-time undergraduate fall and spring semesters ($16,000 total). The Porter–Starke Services Foundation works alongside Porter-Starke Services to enhance the quality of life by advocating for the behavioral and physical health of our community through fundraising, stewardship, and financial support. It is the goal of our organization to reduce the stigma of mental health issues and recognize its impact in our daily lives. Operation Homefront: Military Child of the Year®
Award
The annual awards recognize outstanding young people ages 13 to 18. Recipients will represent a branch of the armed forces — the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, and Space Force — for their scholarship, volunteerism, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and other criteria while facing the challenges of military family life.
All Operation Homefront Military Child of the Year Award recipients will be flown with a parent or guardian to Washington, D.C., and recognized at the April 2026 gala, during which senior leaders of each branch of service will present the awards. They also will receive $10,000 each, a laptop computer, and other donated gifts. The gala is usually held in April, the month of the military child, as a way to recognize the support and appreciation we provide to military families.

Award
All students named as Reagan Fellows are awarded a four-year tuition scholarship. This equates to a scholarship totaling over $115,000.
Eligibility
Students are eligible to apply for the Reagan Leadership Program if they are a current high school senior planning to graduate in spring 2026.Students are eligible to apply for the Reagan Leadership Program if they have earned at least a 3.30 cumulative high school GPA (weighted) at the time of application. Students are eligible to apply for the Reagan Leadership Program if they are planning on completing a four-year college degree. -Students must have completed their application to Purdue by November 1st 2025. This scholarship application is only for the Lilly Scholars at Purdue program. The benefit includes a full tuition scholarship for up to 8 semesters at Purdue University. Interested students must still apply for admission to Purdue University through the Common Application. The Lilly Scholars at Purdue program aims to support students who are from under-resourced urban and rural communities, who have overcome socioeconomic or educational disadvantages, or who are among the first generation in their family to attend college. Those with a shared commitment to reducing barriers to education are also encouraged to apply. The Lilly Scholars at Purdue program strives to support students who are interested in pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry with an emphasis on developing careers associated with engineering, science and technology, research, development, creation, and manufacturing of medications.

The Indiana University Bloomington Wells Scholars Program
Award
One of the most competitive and prestigious awards offered by any American University, the IUB Wells Scholars Program guarantees the full cost of attendance for a period of eight semesters of undergraduate study at Indiana University Bloomington. Portage High School will be allotted 2 counselor nominated students that meet the criteria below. Students that are not nominated by their school are still able to fill out a Self-Nomination form.
Eligibility
In addition to a pattern of serious commitment to one or more activities outside of class, past successful nominees generally place in the top 5% by class rank, have a GPA of at least 3.9 out of 4.0, and (optionally) a 1430+ SAT score and/or 32+ ACT score. The Wells Scholars Program does follow IU Admissions’ policy of test-optional application, and your completed file will be considered whether or not you choose to submit SAT or ACT scores to us. However, unlike the Office of Admissions, the Wells Scholars Program cannot accept changes after the November 1 deadline.
Students who apply by early-binding decision to other institutions are not eligible for the Wells Scholars Program. Early-action or other non-binding applications to other institutions do not affect WSP eligibility.

The William Henry Harrison DAR Good Citizen Award
Award
Once a student is chosen as their school's DAR Good Citizen the student is invited to participate in the scholarship portion of the program. This consists of a personal statement and an essay. Student participation in the scholarship portion of the program is optional.
Scholarships are awarded to essay winners at the chapter, state, division and national levels!

The DAR Chapter honors an outstanding young person in the senior class that demonstrates the qualities of a good citizen.

Louie's Tux Shop Model Search 2026
Award
Select individuals will be invited to participate in a prom photo shoot sponsored by Louie’s Tux Shop. One male and one female will be selected as the “Top Model” and each will win a $1,000 scholarship from Louie’s Tux Shop. Winners will be selected before January 31, 2026.
Eligibility
Entrants must be 15 years of age and must be enrolled in high school at the time of the photo shoot. Participating students must live in Indiana or a county that directly borders Indiana. Students must be able to attend the photo shoot in South Bend, Indiana. Students must complete and sign a standard release document and parental consent form prior to the shoot. Students are responsible for their own travel, meals & lodging if needed. Girls must provide their own dress for the shoot and all dresses must be have prior approval the week before the shoot.
